Perhaps Daunting At First, The Smartwatch is Actually an Easy to Use Piece of Technology

With all the constantly upgraded technology today, it's easy to get daunted by the endless possibilities of the digital world. You may have walked down the street and seen people with little white earbuds dangling out of their ears and wondered what in the world they were doing. Furthermore, those new iPads and iPhones can feel like enough to make anyone's head spin! Sometimes trying to figure out computers and software and the difference between the hard drive and RAM and storage and whatever else there is on those things is a headache of its own. Then there's those smart watches. You may have heard that they're basically small computers or phones on their own. Sounds like a big headache as well, right? Well, you may be surprised, but smart watches were made to make your life easier--it's easy to learn how to use them. So how do you use these watches and are they worth getting? This article will look at some of the best smartwatches on the market today.

The Fitbit

The Fitbit is a good smartwatch to consider right off of the bat, since it is compatible with most smartphones, whether they are Android or iPhones. The Fitbit Charge 4 is probably the best Fitbit on the market for its value and abilities, but other Fitbits will work as well. The Fitbit is geared toward making sure you stay healthy, and it has a number of features that contribute to this goal. The most notable of these is the step counter--it counts every single step you take throughout the day, whether that be taking your dog or a grandchild to the park, or just walking around the kitchen preparing meals. It allows you to set a goal for your step count for the day, as well, so if 10,000 steps is too high of a goal, go for 5,000! Some of the later models can also show texts and calls. Basically, if you want a watch that pushes you to exercise and stay in shape, this watch is the one for you. Just be aware that it does require you to install a Fitbit app on your phone to work, but the app is very easy to use, so that shouldn't be a problem. A Fitbit Charge 4 costs around $130-$170.

The Apple Watch

Since owning an iPhone is so common, this watch is a great option for a lot of people. This is especially true for the later models, like the Apple Watch 6, since they offer more integration with the iPhone. The Apple Watch 6 has the ability to contain thousands of apps, just like your phone, so if you prefer to do your calling, texting, music listening, etc., on your wrist, this is a very convenient way to do so. It can also detect irregular heart patterns and if you fall, it'll give you an option to call for an emergency. It also includes the Siri voice assistant, so if you don't want to pull out your phone for that, either, it's available. Basically, this watch makes it so that you don't have to walk around carrying your phone everywhere. The downsides to this watch are that it does require an iPhone to use, and its price range is rather high, anywhere from $400 to $1500.

These are just a couple of smartwatches which might work for you, but it's also worth checking out watches like the Freedom Guardian or the SOS Smartwatch. Whatever you decide, just remember that smartwatches are built so they can make your life easier, not harder.
